The face behind the Griffin
Griffin Safety Training was founded by Andrew Ashford, a Chartered Safety Practitioner, former Royal Navy submarine engineer and barrister with over 20 years of health and safety know-how.
Leaving the sea behind, Andrew qualified for a NEBOSH Diploma in 1998 and held a number of high-profile posts in health and safety including Global HS&E Advisor for News Digital Systems, a division of News Corporation. With a fascination for the law, Andrew embarked on the path to becoming a barrister and in 2007 was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple. He then practised in general common law at chambers in London.
Griffin Safety Training was born out of Andrew’s passion for health and safety practice. Since setting up Griffin in 2011, Andrew has found himself in high demand to teach around the world and at all levels up to and including MSc.
As well as being a highly-regarded trainer and seminar speaker, Andrew is also Principal Examiner for a unit of the NEBOSH National Diploma (the ‘Gold standard’ qualification for health and safety professionals) and is one of the judges for the annual RoSPA Health and Safety Awards. He has provided consultancy services in the development of safety management systems and safety culture and has worked with numerous high profile clients including:
• The British Army
• The London Organising Committee for the 2012 Olympic Games (LOCOG),
• The Marine Management Organisation
• Hill & Smith Ltd
• North Yorkshire Police
• Plus numerous manufacturing companies
We look forward to working with you.
